How To Organize Chicago Style Citations In A College Research Paper

Organizing citations in your research paper is one of the most important things that you are supposed to think about. When you have spent a very long time working on the paper, it would be unfair for you not to get some good marks on it, especially based on technicalities. There are so many students who have unfortunately suffered this fate, and this has made it really difficult for them to be confident in the work that they do. Indeed writing a research paper is not one of the easiest things that you can get to do. It takes a lot of hard work for you to even come close to getting anything out of this process. However, picture a situation where you have already finished working on your paper, and the only thing that is remaining is for you to organize the citations appropriately and hand over the paper for marking. If you are at this stage, rest assured that you only have so little to do.

You have to be very keen, because any slight error of judgment could cost you all the hard work that you have already invested in this paper. The following are some tips that will help you get this work done:

  • Use your word processor
  • Organize the citations freehand

Use your word processor

Ideally there are only two ways for you to get this task done. You can either choose the easier way which is to get it done through the word processor you use, or you can go it the hard way, which is to write the citations on your own word by word.

Through the word processor method, you simply need to select under the references tab on your document, Chicago style. Once you have chosen this, you can then just proceed and do your work normally and the system will automatically update your citations for you.

Organize the citations freehand

The other option is to write these citations by hand. This is not very easy, and to be honest, it is so tiresome. You must list down all the citations that you have been using in your paper, and then when you are done, go through them and list them down in the bibliography section one by one. Try and make sure that you proofread your work when you are using this option, so that you make sure everything is okay.
